As part of our YPI Programme Officer Spotlight campaign, we are excited to introduce Romi who works with schools in the North East.
How would you describe YPI in three words?
Empowering, enriching and fun!
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
Seeing young people progress from hesitantly voicing their early ideas to fearlessly delivering fantastic presentations in front of an audience is one of the most rewarding parts of the YPI journey.
What does YPI mean to you?
There is something profoundly moving about watching young people speak up for the issues they care about. They are the leaders of tomorrow, and I have every confidence in their ability to thrive. Playing even a small role in the journey that helps them grow means a great deal to me.
What is your favourite YPI memory?
My favourite moments in the programme come when young people’s passion spills over into endless questions and lively conversations during school visits. Their eagerness to create meaningful work is unmistakable, and as they ready themselves to share their learning, you can feel their ideas gathering momentum and coming to life.
Interesting/ fun fact about you
I’m a full-time bookworm, and there’s always a novel tagging along with me – hidden in my bag, riding shotgun in my car, or claiming a spot on my desk!
