Today, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we celebrate the importance of promoting the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities.
We would like to highlight the inspiring efforts of Kai, Callum, Aaron, Jayden and Aaron from Grangemouth High School. Last year, they chose to support Forth Valley Disability Sport (FVDS) and won the £3,000 YPI grant for the deserving charity.
But their passion didn’t stop there. The boys still volunteer for the charity which offers sporting opportunities and physical activities to individuals with a physical, sensory or intellectual disability within the Forth Valley area.
The boys said: “We know the £3,000 went a long way, but we also know that charities like FVDS don’t just run on their own. They need people to volunteer with them so that the £3,000 is put to use. Seeing the difference we’ve made gives us a great amount of pride.
“Seeing our journey progress was one of our biggest highlights. Going from just emailing a charity we didn’t know much about to seeing how they make a difference for people in our community and helping them to do that even better was monumental for us.”
Kai, Callum, Aaron, Jayden and Aaron spoke about their experience at this year’s Grangemouth High School YPI launch, inspiring other young people to drive change in their local area.
