Third Sector Interface delivery partners

YPI works with Third Sector Interface (TSI) delivery partners in the islands to support localised, in-person support of the programme in schools.

Volunteer Centre Western Isles (VCWI), Voluntary Action Shetland (VAS), and Voluntary Action Orkney (VAO) work with 13 schools leading launches and reflection sessions, as well as facilitating YPI Final Showcases.

Lucia Giuntoli, YPI Partnerships Manager, said:

“As part of our commitment to schools, we value in-person relationships which help to maximise the benefits of the programme. To facilitate this in remote regions, we are delighted to work alongside this network of local third sector experts.”

The YPI central team works closely with the TSIs, as well as visiting the regions annually.

Ann Murray of VCWI said:

“There are many positive benefits associated with young people in our schools engaging with charities through YPI.

Not only do young people raise the profile and fundraising capacity of local charities, but YPI also allows them to develop a sense of citizenship and social responsibility as they engage collectively with activities that benefit the community. Raising the profile of volunteering amongst young people is extremely important and we encourage organisations to come forward and offer new youth volunteering opportunities to support and develop our future generation.”

Brian Cromarty of VAO said:

“YPI pairs really well with our aims for young people at Voluntary Action Orkney. In taking part, Orkney’s young folk are much more socially aware of the issues people face in our islands, and the charities who deal with them. Having taken part in S3, they are better able to make informed decisions as they into the senior phase of their school careers and look to gain personal experience and help their community through volunteering.”

Lavinia Schmidt of VAS said:

“We at Voluntary Action Shetland have been a big supporter of the initiative for many years as it creates such great links between young people and the third sector and offers a mutual benefit for everyone involved. I’m looking forward to the year ahead and getting to see more of the amazing work schools and pupils will be taking part in to raise awareness and funds for local causes.”
