We are pleased to introduce Paul, our newest YPI Programme Officer who has recently started working with schools in West of Scotland – Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, Inverclyde, and Argyll & Bute.
How would you describe YPI in three words?
Inspiring, fun, memorable.
What attracted you to the role?
I have worked in education all my career, having started as a primary school teacher before focusing on supporting schools to learn through the use of digital technology. For me, the best moments of working in education are always when the pupils are excited about something. Excitement generates motivation, and there is no better way to do this than through YPI. The way that pupils bring together a range of different skill sets to demonstrate the amazing work done by local charities is truly inspirational and something that I think could stay with pupils long after they have left school. This role will allow me work alongside schools in Glasgow and the West of Scotland to help them give their pupils a YPI experience to remember!
What are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to building relationships with all my schools – culminating in attending the finals. I will be in a privileged position to be able witness the dedication and creativity which pupils put into YPI being demonstrated as part of a celebratory event. When pupils choose a charity that is close to their heart and harness their passion to deliver a creative and engaging presentation – the outcome can be outstanding! I am also excited to see it all being brought together in the National Event in June!
What does YPI mean to you?
YPI is a transformative programme that empowers young people to make a meaningful difference in their communities. It provides vital support to local charities, allowing them to grow and expand their impact. At the same time, it equips young people with essential skills like teamwork, public speaking, and empathy. YPI inspires a sense of purpose and connection, fostering a new generation of compassionate changemakers.
Interesting/ fun fact about you
