Students – Getting Started Branddaddy
Here are five top tips as you embark on your YPI journey
Your Social Issue
Research the needs of your local community and find an issue which you passionately believe you ought to be supporting. The more invested you are in the cause, the more likely you are to convince others to support your beliefs.
How you work as a team is integral to your YPI success. Identify your individual strengths, skills and weakness and support one another to be a rounded and collective team.
Make a personal connection with your chosen charity. Go further than visiting websites and reading leaflets – visit, phone, interview. It is up to you to leave the classroom walls behind and to fully understand your chosen cause.
Tell us precisely what difference £3000 would make to your chosen charity. You need to demonstrate the business case for what £3000 of funding would allow your charity to accomplish.
Think outside the box, be creative and be passionate. Honesty and eye contact have far more power than even the best written notes and PowerPoint presentations. Explore the talents within your team, utilise the skills each individual has, perhaps through video and digital skills, music, art or drama.
“Philanthropy is all about making a positive difference in the world by devoting your resources and your time to causes you believe in. In my case, I like to support causes where “a lot of good comes from a little bit of good,” or, in other words, where the positive social returns vastly exceed the amount of time and money invested.”
